Why are electric car adverts so obsessed with power and performance?
I have noticed that, in their adverts for Electric/hybrid cars, manufacturers are emphasising the power and speed of these vehicles. Is this not contradictory to the message of ‘saving the planet’ as this type of driving will use more energy and therefore require more electricity generation?

Electric and hybrid vehicles will only catch on if they can fit in with people's requirements. If marketeers try to push the environmental message hard, they'll only be bought by people who are very committed to saving the planet. Emphasising the other benefits of electrified vehicles (such as improved performance) makes them more desirable to more people.
