My daughter is a single mother with five children ranging from 17 to 3 years old. As her youngest is not yet able to walk, she is entitled to a
Motability car. She needs a seven-seater with adequate boot room for pushchair, etc. (in other words something larger than the Zafira) and reasonably economical to run. What can you suggest?

I don't think the standard mobility allowance of some £46 a week will
cover any large 7 seater with space behind the rearmost seats for
pushchairs, etc. But, on Motability, the VW Caddy Maxi Life from £16,795 is probably her best bet. Tested at www.honestjohn.co.uk/road_tests/index.htm?id=323
However, I have to warn you, though the 3 year old is handicapped, the fact that the taxpayer is effectively paying for the transport of her 5 children will not go down well with some Telegraph readers. (You did not write that she was widowed or divorced.)
