Unkindest cut
Last Friday my wife purchased a 9 months old Audi TT automatic with 4,500 miles on the clock from a main Audi dealer in Liverpool. Yesterday, Sunday morning, only two days later, having travelled less than 50 miles in the car she was on the M67 motorway when the engine completely cut out leaving her stranded in the middle lane with traffic passing on both sides hooting and flashing lights. She dialled 999 and called the police who were quickly on the scene and moved her to the hard shoulder. The emergency rescue arrived and they just started the car with the key without any problems. They kindly followed her 15 miles back home without incident. I have two queries, first is this common fault on Audi TTs and second if it occurs again could she demand they take the car back. As you can imagine it was a frightening situation and thank goodness it was not a busy Friday afternoon or a dark wet night when it happened.

Never heard of this happening before. But, as with all autos, (including S-Tronics) if they stall for any reason, you have to move the lever to P or N to start them. They will not start in D.
