Shifting circumstance

Last September I exchanged my five-year-old Mondeo Zetec 2.0 auto at 100k miles for a Focus Titanium 140TDCI Powershift. The Mondeo was supplied and always refitted with Continental Conti Premium Contact tyres, which always performed well and lasted about 20k miles. The Focus is fitted with Bridgestone Turanza 205/55/R16 tyres on standard wheels and whilst it drives and steers well is noisy (the suspension has been checked and, sadly, I fully recognise the parlous state of our roads). Do you have any advice on tyre performance by other manufacturers that might address the problem - I am leaning towards a return to Continentals but do they suit this car? Incidentally, the Powershift gearbox works brilliantly.

Swap to Michelin Pilot Primacy HP when they get worn down to between 3 and 2 mm. Thanks for the report on Powershift. There aren't many out there so it's good to get some positive feedback.
