Swift decision

My wife’s car is eligible for the scrappage scheme and so we will be replacing it shortly. She wants a small, cheap 4-door car that is reliable and reasonably chic. For this reason are considering the 1.5 GLX Suzuki Swift. We originally wanted the 1.3 GL due to the fact that she doesn’t cover many miles, however this doesn’t have air con. The 1.5 is about £1k dearer and does have this as standard, plus alloy wheels. The price (after scrappage allowance) is just over £8k. The GLX is also available on 0% finance over 36 months. Should we be considering anything else? The price seems good for how much car would be buying, and whilst the Swift is by no means a prestige model it does seem well built. It has a fair write up and owners I have briefly chatted to seem to love them.

The Swift 1.5GLX is tested and video tested at www.honestjohn.co.uk I was really surprised by how good it is. The alternative is a Mazda 2 1.3TS2. Very usefully, Suzuki does a 1.5 automatic version of the Swift with the same reliable chain-cam Toyota engine and 4-speed autobox as our Vios in Thailand
