Aggro culture

I had a prang on the ice back in January this year. The fault was mine, since the other vehicle, an Audi, was stationary at the time of impact and it was I who lost control on a steep, slippery slope. I am insured with NFU Mutual; some weeks ago my wife took a call from Norwich Union (the other party's insurer) the upshot being NU asked us to call NFU Mutual because (according to NU) NFU Mutual was dragging its feet regarding the claim. We did so. A few moments ago I received a second call from NU in which I was threatened with a claim of more £6,000 being issued against me personally because, said NU, "NFU Mutual in behaving unprofessionally in that it has not yet settled the claim", the stated reason being the NFU Mutual is facing a substantial back log of claims. My question is, does the NU have a right to involve me in the stand off between it and NFU Mutual? If not, what can I do about it? I have already contacted my local NFU Mutual secretary and told him of this unsavoury development. I would appreciate your views.

Yes. In fact you are liable. You pay your insurer to take that liability
for you, but if it doesn't, then you are liable. So really it's time for you to put a rocket under NFU Mutual.
