Wrong side of the tracking

Over the years you mentioned on several occasion the merits of a Ford Mondeo, so when I was offered a 1996 model, for a very reasonable price, I jumped at the opportunity. I have just started my fourth year with this vehicle and have enjoyed some 26,000 miles of motoring with virtually no trouble. The car costs me an average of £1,900 pa. It has now travelled over 112,000 miles. When I first obtained the Mondeo, I had the car tracked. A faulty tyre was diagnosed, on the front offside, which was replaced with a Fulda tyre. Some 14 months later, the nearside tyre proved to be in need of replacement, so another Fulda was fitted. In December 2008, on inspection, the company informed me that both tyres needed replacing. By this time the first tyre had completed 24,000 miles and the second one a mere 14,000 miles. My understanding of the Sale of Goods Act, is that the supplier is the one to take up the issue with the manufacturer and furthermore, they should recognise the deficiency and compensate the client accordingly. In this case we are talking about £ 20.

Your problem here is that you can't prove whether the wear was because the tyre was faulty or because the tracking was out. Often a nearside front tyre will start to wear due to camber and if this is not spotted and the tyres swapped side to side, the wear will be exponential (the way the tyre has worn will cause it to wear at an increasing rate).
