Alloygic reaction

The alloy wheels on my wife's 4.5 years old Mercedes C180 Kompressor SE are peeling and bubbling. The car was bought new and has been serviced at the local Mercedes garage where it was bought. They have contacted Mercedes UK, who offered to cover half the cost of re-doing the wheels. Am I being ambitious in looking for them to cover the full cost.
