Multi-tonic

It’s interesting to see the re-birth of the Audi A4 B7 as a SEAT Exeo. My A4 is an 04 with Multitronic. Last month the temperature gauge went mad, reading anything from zero to 90C. Forums accessed by Google said it was the temperature sensor, I so took it to AUDI Sussex, but they could not do it there and then because you have to book your car into a time slot on service day, which results in scared AUDI drivers waiting in side roads and laybys for their appointment. I switched to South London AUDI, finding a much more friendly approach and getting the sensor changed that day for £108, including software upgrades. This has changed the car completely. No more knocking on starting and even better response. Two points though. Would you recommend the Temperature Sensor to be changed routinely, at a mileage of say 50k, rather than on a fault? And when will AUDI release the Multitronic into the VW range? It has better CO2 than the manual.

Don't fix what ain't broke, unless its breaking could break something
else. So timing belt and tensioner, yes. Temp sensor, no. Multitronic was only for the longitudinal Audi drivetrain. And they are now in the process of replacing it with a longitudinal DSG. It was always a lovely thing to drive, but cost Audi a fortune in warranty and goodwill payments to repair.
