Alfa darling
I would like to share my recent experience if Alfa Romeo. I had a three-and-a-half year old Alfa 147 1.9 MJET 16V diesel that had done 53,000 miles and was 6-months outside the standard warranty. On a Friday evening in November on the way home from work (typical), my cam belt snapped on the M18 at motorway speeds. The AA arrived promptly (with 15 minutes - well done) and towed the car to a local garage in Doncaster (Stoneacres). The root cause appeared to be the common failure of the water pump. I felt particularly unlucky as I had an arrangement with my independent garage to replace the guilty parts at the next service (58,000 miles). Following conversations between Stoneacres and Alfa Romeo UK, the outcome was that my car was repaired within ten days, Alfa Romeo UK making a contribution of 90%; an extended warranty I had taken out covering the bulk of the rest. I think the resulting bill of £30 was fair, so much so, I have just traded the car in for a 22-month-old 159 1.9MJET. The green shoots of hope regarding Alfa after-sales care?

That's what MD Chris Nicoll wants his customers to think of Alfa dealers. He knows there was a problem. He hopes he has fixed it.
