Why is the VED on my car so high?

I'm thinking of buying a Kia Rio but the VED seems to be rather high. I would like to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

It's a good car with a long warranty. All cars now attract VED at a flat rate of £150 a year, unless it's a hybrid or electric model.
