Is it legal to renew the tax on an EV early?

We have an EV with tax renewal due end of May. Your site and others claim it is possible to renew the free tax on an EV before the changes in April. However the DVLA website ( https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-advance ) clearly states that you can apply either 2 months in advance by post or online from 5th of month when it is due to expire.

So why would it be legal to renew the tax on an EV early.

While it is correct that the vehicle tax advance section of the government website states that 'you can tax your vehicle up to 2 months before it expires', this is separate to the vehicle tax renewal page here - www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax There is no issue of legality - the fact is that the online portal allows you to renew your vehicle tax. We have done this ourselves.
