Cold play
My wife and I have an 04 Jazz CVT and an 06 Impreza auto. We now need only one car between us. The Impreza costs an arm and a leg to insure and to quench its thirst. The Jazz is our ideal car ... BUT - we live at the bottom of a hill in the Yorkshire dales and last week's snow defeated it. Where do we find a 4WD Jazz? It doesn't exist. So what do we look at? After your answer to LS, I wondered about the Qashqai. And the saga recited there by Derek Ruddock is beyond a joke. We need 4WD. We want economy and low overheads. And we don't want to spend too much. Not difficult, eh? Can you advise?

Wait for the Toyota Urban Cruiser arriving next year. That offers a 90PS 1.4 diesel engine and 4WD and 133km emissions, making it the lowest emission 4WD. It should suit you perfectly. Early details in car by car breakdown at www.honestjohn.co.uk Though in a hard winter, changing to winter tyres will probably help more than 4WD.
