What would you recommend as a cheap, reliable car at up to £2k to do 5k miles a month? Has to be reliable (don't want to have to resort to freezing to death on my motorbike) and not cost more than 25p / mile to run and I've got a budget of up to £2,000. The car will only be needed for 3 months and 15k miles then I'll be getting rid of it or handing it over to my dad

A 1997 - 2000 Mondeo 1.8 or 2.0-litre petrol. That's what came best in Warranty Direct's statistics of claims involving older cars. Probably cost you £500 - £1,000 for a nice one.
