Passion killer

I have got an eight-year-old Smart Passion convertible, semi automatic that has done approx 45,000 miles. So far so good. But it is beginning to cost me money. I have just spent nearly £1,000 on having the steering column, steering rack and a few other things replaced. I wonder what you would recommend as a replacement. I would like to have an occasional rear seat and I don’t wont to have to change gear.
