I noted in your website ‘What to Watch out for’ section for the Golf Mk VI: "Problems emerging with the 1.4TSI and 7-speed DSG: jerking at low speeds, losing drive, etc. One owner had the transmission replaced, then the entire car replaced, only to be faced with the same problems. VW later acknowledged a problem that is completely fixed by a software download." I am having exactly this problem but VW say there isn't one. They have mentioned nothing about a software download but just re-set the mechatronics.

The Mechatroncis will have been re-set by a software download. I think the DSG has a problem either with its dual mass flywheel or with its first and 2nd gears. So to soften the torque impact on them VAG has introduced a deliberate delay into the throttle response. No such problems with Ford/Getrag's similar Powershift. I seriously abused one while filming and it still behaved impeccably. But what I don't know is whether VAG/ZF have discovered an intrinsic flaw with the system that Ford/Getrag have yet to encounter. No problems have been fed back to me about Powershifts that have been fitted to Focus and C-Max for two years.
