Hire purchased
Boxing day 2008, a neighbour damaged my car, a Jaguar XJ8 by reversing into it. He admitted liability. I think my insurance company and certainly Rybrook Jaguar of Chester recommended letting an accident management outfit deal with the claim, and hire car. I know what you say about accident management companies, and now I agree with you. I would not have gone anywhere near them had I known what I know now. They gave me a XK8 for three weeks, and as a result the total bill (including repair of just £2,000) came to £10,000. The third party insurance has not paid so the accident management outfit has instructed solicitors to recover what it can through the courts if necessary. The AM outfit provided an indemnity insurance policy in the event that should happen. I have been assured by both the AM outfit and the solicitors that I will not be liable for any shortcomings in the third party’s final settlement payment whether or not it goes to court, and that I will not have to pay any money at all. Nevertheless I am still apprehensive that I will get a big bill from the AM outfit. Money that I do not have. Should I be worried?
