Rider haggard

Looking for advice please. My 2007 BMW 120d currently runs on 17" wheels with runflat tyres. The ride is ok, but a bit firmer than I like. I can get 16" BMW wheels for the 1 Series with run flats or tubeless.
Can you advise? Would the speedo be ok? and what effect would it have on ride/control?

Yes, go for 16s, preferably with the new Bridgestone Runflat 3s that ride as well as conventional tyres. The standard BMW size will be the same rolling circumference as the 17s, I think 185/60 R16.
