Bumper crock

I have just been reading what happened to A.L., of Sevenoaks. In November 2008 I received my car renewal from the AA who I had been with for over 15 years. Considering that at the time I had 20 years NCD, I was not happy with their renewal quote. I had heard of RIAS brokers, who provide insurance for the over 50's. I telephoned them and after giving them all my details, they ran it through their computer and quoted me £190 less than the AA, with the same insurance company. In June last year, I was parked in a supermarket car park waiting for my wife when an elderly gentleman lost control of his car, hitting me all along one side. He was driving an automatic and admitted that he put his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake, as you have mentioned many times before. When I got home I phoned RIAS and gave them all the details. Within 2 hours a repair company telephone me to arrange the collection of my car, a Freelander 2, and a hire company telephoned me to arrange the delivery of a Freelander 2. As you have said before, at great expense to the other guys insurance company. The repair cost £3,000, but they did a very good job. November 2009 my renewal arrived from RIAS. I had heard that premiums were going up, so was pleasantly surprised to find that it had only gone up by £9, so not all insurance companies are trying to rip us off.

No. The problem is with insurers and brokers taken over by Private Equity Companies and Investment Banks, asset stripped and now working for every scrap they can get. RIAS must be an honourable exception,
