Somebody reversed into my car and admitted fault but now my insurer tell me they're denying it - what do you suggest I do?
While driving slowly along a narrow road, a car that was parked on the side reversed into my front door. This was three months ago. I noticed him reversing and sounded my horn but he continued to reverse. He admitted his mistake and we exchanged names, phone numbers and addresses. He said I should get the damage repaired privately because he did not want to pay the excess and his insurance premium will rise at renewal. The next day I got a written quotation from a Mercedes franchised body repairer of £750. The other party suggested that we should get a second quote from a body repairer he knows. So we met with this body panel person who said he could fix my car for £200 cash. I wanted my car to be repaired by a reputable garage and so reported the matter to Admiral (my insurer). Admiral has told me that the other party is denying having an accident on that day. I would appreciate your advice as to how should I proceed now.

Leave it up to your insurer and request they issue proceedings against the other party. Do you have proof of any correspondence? Provide that to your insurer if so.
