A driver hit my car and left no details - how can I get the CCTV footage from the car park operator?
My car was damaged in a car park by a third party, who failed to report the incident. The car park operator requested I report the incident to the transport police in order for them to review and release the CCTV footage. The police won't take any action due to lack of resources, so my choices are either to repair the damage at my own cost or make an insurance claim and pay through increased premiums. Meanwhile, the culprit has broken the law and gets away with it. Do you have any advice?

Contact the transport police to see if they can request the footage from the car park operator. Alternatively, do a subject access data request on the car park operator requesting any information they have on you and your property, i.e. vehicle registration and date to assist in issuing civil proceedings against the person who committed a tort against you. You will hold them liable for damages sustained to your vehicle whilst they acted as bailee over your property, where you paid by way of ticket for the storage of your vehicle on their property. It might just prompt them to assist. You could also try raising a claim with the MIB: www.mib.org.uk/making-a-claim
