Buying a new Zafira - should I worry about my DPF?

We have decided to change our Zafira GSI and have just ordered a Zafira Tourer 2.0 CDTI.
I read your column at the weekend and the diesel particulate issue cropped up, causing me great concern around £2000 bills.

We do about 15000 miles a year, during the week my wife uses the car for usually short journeys but at the weekend they are longer. We travel long distances to Inverness or cardiff 2-3 times a year.

Are we wise going diesel or do you think we should go 1.4turbo (I thought this might feel under powered.

I like the 1.4 140 turbo. Chain cam, too. And no reports of trouble so far of this engine in the Astra or Meriva. But 15k miles a year and a long run every weekend should regenerate the DPF from the weekday cold starts. Though better to do a longer run mid-week as well.
