Ford Fiesta - Fiesta - engine temperature guage fluctuating 7 Jun 2010 (Forum)
For example on a normal 20minute drive the guage would start normal, then go into the red, then back to the middle, then higher, then lower etc. Yesterday when I returned home the guage was in the red, and the coolant reservoir was making what can be described as a gargling sound. The coolant reservoir is full and has been for over a week so I don't think there is a leak, but it was strange that the radiator fan wasn't on when I checked. -

Ford Galaxy (1995 - 2006) - 2000 2.0 freezing then boiling 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
DAY 2: car cold again (very hard to start) heater doesn't come on, temp gauge stays on bottom, then suddenly says overheating. Limp to garage, no coolant, but car was serviced same week, so has lost coolant? Q: Is there some sort of temp sensor perhaps controlling inside and outside temp? Help. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.25 - engine cut outs 13 Jan 2008 (Forum)
On both occasions, it has been in the early morning first run. I have also noticed what appears to be a black splodge in the coolant. I don't think its oil (that floats?!). The coolant level does not see to have gone down, maybe by a fraction of a millimetre in the 3 months i have had the car. The car has 53k on the clock and no other problems, I am hoping this is not HGF... -
Reasons for Subaru Legacy Head failure ? 7 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Have been wondering about buying a Legacy or Outback, and doing a bit of research seems the engines have a reputation for head-gasket failure , certainly the 2.5L engines at least. I know how to check for this, (mayo, oil in coolant and vice-versa) etc. and that you need tochange oil & coolant regularly to reduce chances of failure. Can anyone tell me the reason why they are so prone - clearly it must be a design/manufacturing problem ? -
No temperature gauge! 29 Jan 2007 (Forum)
But I do like to see how the coolant is warming up, and even more to see how the oil is warming up - as on my MINI Cooper S. Still, the BM has a 'fuel consumption indicator' and does have a fuel gauge thrown in too. Apart from this relative lack of instrumentation, the latest 3 seems a fine car. -
Renault K7M engine question n.o 1 3 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Clio 1.6 8v K7M engine. Changed the coolant on the wife's Clio, all sorted, however I removed what I thought was the cyl block drain plug to find it did not have coolant behind it, this was a short bolt about 20mm long with an 11mm head situated on the front of the block near the gearbox end below the oil pressure switch, when removed the flat end of the bolt had engine oil on it though no oil leaked from the hole, it had Loctite on it so I re-Locite'd it and replaced it, wouldn't mind knowing what it is there for, Haynes does not help, any ideas? -
Removal of water from CVH Block? 15 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I have recently rebuilt my CVH head and am now in the position of of putting it back on the block. However when I originally removed it I didn't wait long enough for all the coolant to drain before complete removal (I know please no comments!) and now therefore have some coolant/water in the block. There was some water in the one of the cylinders but I have removed this, what I am most concerned about is when you peer down the oil passages (I have drained the oil), in the block, water ,and a considerable amount at that, is evident. -

Audi 80 2.0E 1995 model,type B4 20 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I am about to replace the shock absorber cartridges in the front struts. Do I need to put any oil or coolant into the struts before the new inserts. I can remember that when I changed the inserts on a mk2 Golf Gti a very long time ago, the dedicated mags recommended an egg cup full of neat coolant. The instuctions that came with the new boge inserts states "fill in oil between cartridge and outer tube to the specified level if so required by the car manufacturer." -
Cooling System Prob / Blocked Radiator?? 28 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Hi All, Following my recent Head gasket change on my Granada, everything has been OK, bar the transmission blowing up, (£528, Ouch!!!). My only concern is the coolant system. The system isn't loosing coolant any more, but the radiator doesn't seem to get anything like as hot as all my other cars. The top and bottom pipes to the radiator are very hot at normal running temp (Can barely touch them), but the radiator is cool to the touch. -
