  • Fuel and fuel consumption 24 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I recently used Shell V-Power in my 2005 MINI Cooper S and 2007 BMW 320d to see if it gave better fuel consumption over 'cooking' petrol/diesel. Total mileage of test approx 3,000. Result: no meaninful - if any - improvement. Conclusion (for me and my cars): premium fuel = waste of money. Of late

  • Fuel efficiency magnets 19 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Friend of mine has started selling fuel efficiency magnets which are placed around the fuel pipe and supposedly improve fuel consumption and possibly performance. Have any BRers tried or run with these fitted? And if so what were the results? I'm sceptical as to the claims but can see some logic
  • Fuel filler, does the icon show which side it's on 7 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I've received one of those 'did you know' emails that crop up from time to time. It reckons that the fuel pump symbol on the fuel gauge shows which side of the car the fuel filler is on depending on which side the nozzle is depicted. This is supposed to be for new drivers and hire car users

Apparantly the tank was no longer delivering fuel to the pump. The tank was at least a quarter full. The garage poured a further gallon in to the tank

  • BMW fuel hoses 14 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Just a word of caution to owners of older BMWs. Last year my 1992, 320i, 60,000miles had a fuel leak from the short fuel hose between the metal supply pipe and injector rail, the hose had become rock hard. The only satisfactory cure was a special replacement kit from BMW. Now another hose between
