Hi Peugeot 407 SV Hdi Just wondered if anyone can help or advise. I am not extremely technical so bear with me. A few week ago I had what appeared like a fuel starvation problem (erratic response) and a warning on my car - "Depollution system faulty". I took this to my PUG dealer who said -

Hi all, I've bought a Ford Focus sport 115 bhp 04 plate a few months back. Its now done 90k and since I bought it in December it has yet to impress me with fuel consumption. The car's had a full service, and has been driven easily with a mixture of town and motorway. Today I have done 430 miles -

Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1997 1.9TD Terrible Starter 11 Aug 2008 (Forum)
using veggie oil (around 5/6 litres per tankful) and the car continued to run normally. About two months ago though and hearing that Lucas fuel pumps don't like the stuff, I quickly ditched the veggie oil idea. The problem I seem to be now having though is that the car is taking longer than -
Beating the manufacturers quoted MPG 23 May 2008 (Forum)
Having just read the some of the sites linked to from the other thread about how economical could a car be made, I found the following quotes to be of interest: "completed the 330 mile event using just 19.12 litres of petrol to return an overall fuel consumption figure of 78.39 mpg -

VW Van won't start, then won't stop! 2 Jan 2007 (Forum)
) that maybe air in fuel line because of the unusual way the van was positioned, and it prefers the view across the Ribble to facing garage doors! Fuel gauge still registering just above red sector, but no harm in emptying my emergency 5 litres in. Turns over several times, then eventually fires. Quick trip -
High Pressure Common Fail Diesels 12 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Well, over the past 12 months or so we have all read many posts about Common Rail Diesel engines being ticking time bombs. Mr Aprillia wouldnt touch one; and that scares me. Im sitting here wonedring when my 03 plate HDI is going to trash its fuel system and leave me with a bill for £2500. One -
Ford Transit 100 T260 - lack of power 23 Aug 2006 (Forum)
they leave me for dead at 70mph... it just won't go. Sometimes it accelerates at lower speed through the rev range impressively and then the next minute it runs out of steam shortly after the turbo gives a bit of boost. Totally upredictable! It's just undergone a big service, changing oil, fuel, airfiler -
Vectra Diesel problem 30 Jun 2006 (Forum)
starts to experience what I can only describe as similar symptoms to fuel starvation. As you try to accelerate it jumps and jerks, starting to accelerate then 'dies' for a fraction of a second (not enough to cut out), then picks up for 2/3 second before dying again. If I slow right down to less than 50 -
Troubled conscience 14 May 2005 (Forum)
plastic domestic oil tank arrives? Er, no, I added it to the 40 litres of diesel already in my car's fuel tank. But, I have a feeling that I need to pay some fuel duty on this. Anyone know if there is a precedent for this? Or should I just forget about it, and take an extra Scotch at night to help me -
non start polo diesel 5 Dec 2004 (Forum)
so set about stripping it to check in case it had jumped, it all aligned up, so continued to install a new belt, but still had the problem of not starting. I fitted a new fuel filter to eliminate that and now have made a small fuel tank to bypass the tank, filter and pipework and gone stright to pump -

Got to our destination and halfway back when the airbag light came on as before, temp & fuel gauges re-set. Bit further down the road -
LPG/Calor Gas cylinders 13 Aug 2004 (Forum)
obviously in the UK this would be very naughty as like red diesel there is no road fuel duty on gas cylinders but in theory how easy would it be to convert an LPG car to run from cylinders? I asked someone I know in the business and he said he'd never heard of it being done but you certainly get gas -
Cars with big engines drink more - why? 7 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Flicking through a car brochure the other day , comparing fuel figures for the same model car, one fitted with 1.8L, the other 2.5L It was apparent that the 2.5 returns, nominally, a good 10MPG less than the 1.8. Lets say both of these cars are travelling at a constant speed, side by side along -
Biodiesel Availability 13 Jul 2003 (Forum)
that it is good for the engine and will also give improved fuel consumption. The smell is certainly better than standard diesel and there does not seem to be any difference in the way the car drives and performs. I believe that this 100% Biodiesel is fairly widely available in Norfolk and wondered if anyone has -
Help! Another problem with my Granada 18 Apr 2003 (Forum)
fine since. Was it just having a senior moment, or was it something else? I was thinking that it may simply have been fuel vaporisation (the fuel pump is at the back and the sun was beating down on the car all afternoon) or perhaps a problem with the gearbox starting inhibitor? Anyway, once again -
