Going well, Very satisfied

This is an update of my May 2018 review posted soon after I bought the car with 10.7k on the clock. It is now at 60k and about to have its next service.

There is really nothing to report. The car has been entirely reliable with one exception. I went to start it and all the warning lights came on, and it would not start. The battery had failed, at around 54k miles, and had to be replaced. It turns out that when I took it for an MOT at Halfords they also did a brake and battery check and advised the battery was in poor condition. I should have listened! The car has had routine servicing, two sets of replacement wipers, new front and rear tyres at 33k and the front discs and pads have just been replaced. It has passed all MOTs with no advisories. It will need new front tyres in the next 5-10k miles, perhaps for the winter.

The car has been utterly reliable and comfortable. The climate control is great in hot weather and everything just works. It was noticeable that after around 30k miles the engine really loosened up and economy improved, possible coinciding with the new tyres (Nexen)? I regularly achieve up to 45 mpg, brim to brim, on long runs and 37/38 backwards and forwards. It continues to be a comfortable, reliable cruiser that takes all our gear with no fuss or hassle. I had a blowout on a motorway when a large piece of metal penetrated the tyre. Fortunately I made it to the hard shoulder and was able to replace it with the skinny spare. Puncture gunge would have been useless, and I would now not have a car that did not have at least a skinny spare. I am very pleased with the car which still looks good and polishes up well and has also held its value.

This is a great car, as good now as when I bought it. My only problem might be what to replace it with in due course. With an excellent local dealer no doubt it will be a Toyota or possibly a Lexus.
