Tesla Model X (2016 on)
Standard Range 100DkWh Dual Motor Auto 5dr
The only game in town in 2017, but now.....
In 2017 when we brought this car, (most expensive shopping trip in Cambridge ever!), It was the time of diesel gate. We were so hacked off at Audi for conning us, that it was any car but a diesel. Then it was really the only game in town if you wanted an electric car. That with their supercharger network gave us enough confidence to take a leap of faith.
But go forward four years.
Although not brilliant there are enough chargers out there to get by. (Ionity, BP, Shell come to mind).
Then you come to is defects.
Build quality poor, noisy and uncomfortable. It's regeneration system would make anyone in the back seat ill.
Suspension very twitchy.
The big screen. More of a negative. I think it's dangerous to have to take your eye off the road to look at something. More telling, it becomes a gimmick that. Is annoying after a bit. A heads up display is so much better.
The drive assist that it has.. I was very impressed with it, until I realised that other manufacturers had it, and theirs worked. The Tesla had frequent updates which alerts how it works which is annoying after a bit. I see the but that all cars irrespective of age get updated, but you just wish that the thing worked from the beginning.
Range.. supposed to be 315, but realty was 230. Still enough for what we needed, but...
Speed.. 0 to 60 circa 5 secs, but it was to scary, so we dined it to it's chill option, which was slower.
Good bits.. It does have a huge boot, the truck of closing the front door by pressing the brake pedal is kind of cool.
So what car did we move onto? Mercedes eqc. Great car. Read my review.
But you are in essence getting the same story of car for about £30k less.
There are now better cars around.
