Tough little car with "Achiles Heal"

This car is not as crude as some road testers would have you believe, as long as you accept it is for bad weather and shorter trips and is not a sports car. No air con available either. Think of it as a mini Land Rover.

The only flaw we found, and it seems very common when you google the subject; is with the front hubs. Apparently similar to the original Land Rover design, this car is prone to king-pin wear. The signs are similar to wheel-bearing failure and accompanied by weeping oil seals. Internet reports of this happening at as little as 30k miles.

Price to fix at main dealer (Two non-franchised garages declined to do the work.) for o/s wheel bearing and n/s set of king pins & fittings, £600. Replacement key also £150.

Just as well we bought it cheap!
