Practically a great budget car.

Our car is a 2016 Suzuki Celerio SZ2 in metallic black.
With the standard plastic grill and wing mirrors for this model also being black, it makes this car look ..well... very black!
It was bought as a six month old former dealership staff car, with 3500 miles on the odometer, for £5974 with mats from Luscombe of Leeds, who claim a nationally recognised reputation for excellent service.
The price for the car was competitive and the experience at the dealership first class.
Made at a new factory in Thailand, the fit and finish are good even if the materials look more 1980's.
Not the prettiest of small cars but it has a utilitarian attractiveness that grows on you; the Renault 4 springs to mind and it is certainly very spacious for the class.
It is definitely styled for function over form, though within its external proportions; 5 doors, a voluminous cabin and a decent sized boot, it is a practical car.
The seats are comfortable and easily positioned to suit most people, as even this base model has seat height adjustment.
Aided by the punchy engine response in the first two gear(it is supposed to be capable of 60 mph in 2nd but who...) light steering and gear change plus decent brake feel make town use its forte.
Whilst I would not relish 300 miles at 70mph on a motorway in it, ‘A’ road cruises or several score miles on faster roads are fine. It cruises surprisingly well at 70 mph.
On well maintained surfaces, driven smoothly the car handles well.
The suspension is not stiff enough for the car to be chuckable but it is not designed to be and this means it’s ride is quite comfortable in most circumstances however deeper irregularities in the road surface make the suspension jitter and spoils both the ride and handling to some degree.
But this is just nit picking.
The Celerio is a practical car that I enjoy driving, much to my wife's bemusement ...it was bought for her.
As a car to use on the British roads of today, within our speed limits, it also makes a great deal of sense.
When I think of the price we paid for this fun but practical little motor and look at the trip fuel indicator ...76mpg ... after our first 40 mile round trip, I am really pleased with the purchase.
