Skoda Fabia vRS (2010 - 2013)
vRS 1.4 TSI DSG 5dr Auto Estate
Guzzles oil like there is no tomorrow
It’s a shame as such a promising car with some strong points is massively let down in others. It has a nice smooth auto gearbox and an alright sound for a 1.4l engine. Comes with good practicality and enough power when you need it, however the good points end there...
Oil consumption is terrible. Been several times to dealers who claim it isn’t a problem, despite reading other reviews stating the engine needed replacing as it was a manufacturing fault that Skoda never owned up to. It will consume so much oil I have to top up every other month which isn’t normal for any car.
The road noise is really bad. On the motorway it feels unsettled and the constant drone of the tires and wind soon takes it toll and becomes an annoyance. While fun on some British roads, 90% of the time it’s a rattling mess and the poor quality shows.
Finally the interior is nothing special. While the seats are comfy and you have a nice driving position making long drives comfortable, the interior is just let down with poor speakers, a bad infotainment system and cheap plastics everywhere. You can see where a lot of money was cutback compared to a VW.
Overall a practical car with some decent power, but poor oil consumption and road noise really makes it a poor car to own everyday. Wouldn’t recommend and can see why they were dropped.
