The 'economy' auto gearbox is a real pain - otherwise it is an OK car
Changed down from a Golf Plus (we need the height inside). This is a cheaper version of the Golf.
One thing ruins all the good things. The economy 7 speed box gets up to 6th gear at 30mph and sends a shudder through the steering wheel and a slighter one through the accelerator pedal. I then have to brake slightly until the gear drops to 5 and then press the accelerator very gently to stop it going up a gear. This is a real pain which was not evident on the test drive.
When I queried this at the dealer, I was advised to use Sports mode (which in practice means 3rd gear at 30mph) which is noisy and uneconomic! This car runs like a dream at 50mph in 7th gear but I cannot do this speed all the time!!
