Nissan X-Trail (2001 - 2007)

2.2SVE
Nice to drive but a huge dissapointment in reliability
Bought new from a dealership in 2005. In the eight years that I had the car the following went wrong or needed replacement. Intercooler unit leaking, replaced under warranty. Alarm modules intermittent fault, replaced under warranty. MOT at dealership, advised that rear shocks were defective, trip to an independent garage revealed shocks in rude health. Passenger seat, front leather edge holding trip secured with additional screw, under warranty. Fuel filters freeze up in winter, resulting in low power issues and kangarooing, quality of diesel possibly? Radio fails to work when car is cold, replaced under warranty but new radio failed with same fault just on a year later. Paint chips and scratches easily. Turbocharger failed, engine ingested bits and piston thrown, Nissan UK refused any goodwill as they claimed no inherent fault with car and mileage covered, £7.5k quoted replacement engine not including fitting or any other issues so sc*** fodder. Vehicle over it's lifespan was a money pit which was a shame as it was very capable in what it could carry but experience with vehicle and Nissan customer service has put me off any Nissans for life.
