Well made and surprisingly economical
The Rio is well equipped, economical to run and feels well screwed together. It's not an exciting drive but it performs and handles well enough, the suspension can be a bit crashy into potholes though.
I traded in a Mk3 1.25 Rio which would deliver 50mpg regardless of how badly you treated it. I expected the 1.4 to be a bit less economical but in the real world it's been a pleasant surprise. Rolling average mpg is in the high 40s and there have been a few occasions on longer journeys that I've managed close to 60mpg.
