Jeep Cherokee (2014 - 2019)
2.2 CRD Active Drive I Limited Auto 4X4 5dr SUV
Not a safe 5 seater SUV
Multiple problems with the car mostly associated with the electronics. Jeep cannot get the header unit to function correctly. We are told they cannot get the relevant Apps to perform correctly. They have attempted to repair by first reprogramming the unit (center unit for radio/sat nav/media player etc), then replacing the unit. The new unit has returned to the garage for 'patches' to repair on at least 4 occasions.
8 months and still ongoing.
This is however a minor problem compared to the REAR CENTER SEATBELT which cannot be used coremfortably by anyone of normal size. These cars have an ALR (automatic locking re-tractor) fitted to the rear (3) seatbelts (designed for child seat safety). It is virtually impossible to fit the seatbelt without activating the ALR. Passenger movement is severely restricted. At the garage where the car was purchased the dealership manager could only barely fasten the seat belt and the same happened to the Workshop Manager.
Both agreed the center rear belt was 'not right' and offered us a replacement car!! with the same fault.
Unfortunately Jeep Customer Services state 'The Belt is to Jeep Specifications'. I have requested the specification from Jeep (either British or European Standard) to which it is manufactured. Not forthcoming, only 'manufactured to Jeep Specification'. As an Engineer by trade Jeep is not a recognized Standard
We are currently stuck with a car that can only comfortably seat 4 passengers.
Please be warned that this car is not a 5 seater except if the centre belt is used by children????
