Great car.... but....

Hyundai really have come a long way. The Tucson is a great looking car and the technology included as standard is impressive. It comfortably seats five and over long distances is very comfortable to drive. The road noise is acceptable and not anything to get upset over, even on 19 inch wheels. The 1.7 Dct gearbox is extremely smooth and I have no complaints about it whatsoever.
The huge panoramic sunroof is awesome!
There are however two fails.
As others have mentioned, this car is seriously let down by the quality of the internal plastics. Even the 'soft touch' surfaces aren't that soft. I can live with that but the biggest issue for me is the audio/navigation head unit. It's truly horrible.

UK models have no phone voice activation option, no Apple CarPlay and no plans to introduce either on current versions of the car. I understand that this is due to European models having an incompatible head unit although the US cars have it. Hyundai dropped a crucial piece of tech in favour of Tom Tom live services which to be honest is not that great either.
The audio sounds weak and tinny. Navigating through the music menus with a phone attached via bluetooth or cable is slow and laborious. My previous Nissan Juke had a better head unit, sounded much better and had voice activation. This is major oversight on Hyundai's part.
The car has only done 1000 miles so I don't know how reliable it will prove to be.

Overall, I really like the car. It's stylish and comfortable. The safety technology is fantastic and I'm glad I have it.
The lack of Apple CarPlay is an issue though and that may put off prospective purchasers.
