Honda CR-V (2018 - 2023)
2.0 i-MMD Hybrid SR E-Cvt 5dr
Could do better in many areas
Living with the car has exposed strengths and weaknesses, as you might expect.
Fuel economy is either brilliant or abysmal. It likes downhill runs on a warm engine in reasonable weather. Anything that requires a cold start or use of a/c and heated screens hammers fuel economy far more than other cars I've driven. I'm am advanced driver and the dashboard economy score likes me, but I also need to keep up with traffic. Not the CRV's strength if fuel economy is to be maximised.
Comfort is OK but the oem Bridgestone tyres are brittle and noisy.
Great visibility and easy to drive anywhere.
Build quality isn't great. Both bumpers move during hand washing. Panel gaps can be measured in cm rather than mm, and doors close with a twang. Very similar to a 1999 Suzuki Swift I ran years ago. That cost me £1,500, so was understandable.
Like my Swift, the Honda's carpets are like a scouring pad and dash plastics creak, especially around the steering column.
The dealership is reasonably priced for servicing and warranty work has been dealt with efficiently.
Would I have another? Probably not. The Kodiaq or X Trail provide more complete alternatives.
