Good car let down by major steering fault

I purchased the Honda civic with 300 miles on the clock. I put 13000 miles on it which included a European road trip. Ok, I liked the car, it had a bit of pace when needed, and it was a relaxing car to drive. The mpg was around 56 on the motorway, and 60 or so just around town. However on one wet cold day I did see 25mpg. I did notice that my drivers seat was just starting to break down and I could feel some hardness in areas of the backrest which I did not have before. The led headlights, well not the best in the world. However the deal breaker came when I was on the motorway and the steering became hard to turn, then soft and then hard again. This was after driving around 40 minutes at motorway speeds. I contacted Honda, who did not want to know. I contacted Honda uk who just said there was nothing wrong. I found out that the civic did in deed have a major steering fault and Honda usa had three legal actions against them after two drivers had been killed due to this steering fault and the drivers losing control of the car. I sold the Honda, and would never buy one again
