Ford Ka (2008 - 2016)
Edge 1.2 3dr Hatchback
nice drive, but...
We previously had the Studio, very happy with it overall, it consistently did 55mpg around town and 60mpg on the motorway at 60mph, but wanted electric windows and central locking.
So we bought the Edge last year and whilst I enjoy driving the car, I am very disappointed with the fuel consumption, we are now consistently getting 44mpg around town and 50mpg on the motorway at 60mph, I know it's got a/c but we don't use it, I accept it may be a tad heavier, but basically it's the same car and a difference of 10mpg is a lot to me.
The 1st week we had it, a clunking sound appeared at the passenger side front, we took it back and they stopped it. a few months later it returned, after further inspection we were told they had to order a part, it went back yet again and they stopped the noise, now the clunking is back again, I'm beginning to lose faith in their mechanic skills.
New cars should not be going faulty in the first year IMO.
Some seem happy with 40-45mpg, (cars were doing this 20 years ago) however I also have a 1960's designed car and that does 50mpg, IMV 21st century cars should be doing a lot more to the gallon than they are.
With petrol rapidly heading towards £7/ gallon I would like to see 100mpg
I doubt I will be buying another Ford
