Ford Focus (2014 - 2018)
1.0T 100 Titanium EcoBoost 5dr
Brilliant drivers car but with one big problem.
I have been very happy with my car. I live in rural France so do not do too much town driver and I get around 43 mpg .
It’s a real drivers car and loves the twisty country lanes. Brilliant road holding and steering control.
On motorways, surprisingly economical at around 46 mpg. Just arrived back from 3 weeks in the French Alps with 4 adults and in the high passes with hairpin bends the little 1 litre Ecoboost engine was truly amazing with incredible torque matching most diesels.
The only gripe I have and it’s a big one ! Ford decided to fit a wet rubber cambelt which runs
Permanently in oil. Ford recommends changing it at 10 years or 150,00p miles. Don’t believe them. They are often failing at half that mileage. With catastrophic damage resulting in a new engine. I just changed mine after 7 years and 80,000 miles to be on the safe side. The cost is super expensive as they have to dismantle the front of the engine. Rough cost around £1500.
