Daihatsu Sirion (2005 - 2009)
1.0 S+ 5dr Hatchback
No nonsens, reliable value for money car.
Well, the experience continues. For its last MOT we splashed on a new set of tyres, new rotors, pads & brakes shoes & it sailed through the test. Early this year the exhaust started blowing. Took it into Quikfit who advised the CAT had gone & wanted £600 notes! Away at the time with no tools we had no choice & booked it in, yet come the day they could not get one, so we had to drive home. I subsequently bought one from EURO parts for £400 notes & fitted it myself. Devil of a job with the need for the front bumper to be removed! The exhaust bolts were shot as with the doughnut seal & as neither were supplied with the CAT I machined up a seal from solid brass & made a set of set screws from some old stub axles I had laying around. Good as gold now. 73250 miles on the clock now & almost ten years old. We still use it as a “City Car”, driving city to city with regular trips from Norwich to Shepperton & once up to speed it keeps up with motorway speeds very well. We can do a return trip and still have enough gas for local trips for a week on a single tank. Our plan is to achieve 100,000 miles then buy a new car. A new Sirion would be on the cards but no longer sold here....so perhaps a derivertive ....a Yaris?
