Cupra Leon (2020 on)
Estate 1.4 tsi vz2 hybrid 245
A Chameleon
I love my Cupra Estate and here is why? This isn’t one car, it’s several and being an estate it’s versatile. New its cost £29k which is way better than most competitors and if you hunt around for a base colour it comes in under 40k avoiding road tax surcharges! You can still today buy one with a five year warranty at that price. It also has 245 bhp (under certain circumstances) which must be top dog for this class of hybrid. Most of my journeys are local under 30 miles and with my intelligent octopus tariff topping up is costing me 70-90 pence a shot. If I go further, I swap to hybrid mode and for sub 200 mile trips I’m getting 70-90 mpg. At very worst with no lecky left it’s 45 mpg on a long run. Wang on the sport or Cupra mode and it becomes enough of a beast for my tastes. It’s a great balance between all the things you might want out of a car. Also if my experience is anything to go by the downsides in previous reviews are well over stated. I’ve got no bugs in the infotainment after 3 months use (which is a common reviewers whinge and it’s not hard to use for someone of 70+ years like me. I also have had no other problems (fingers crossed) the estate is a reasonable looker although the front is prettier than the rear. The interior is nicely understated with a few rather nice touches. The seating is good and the space is top notch. Currently you get two services for £99 giving you three years servicing for that cost. The only downside that I’ve found is that the vehicle is heavier than an ICE due to the weight of batteries and that leaves the brakes feeling a tad soft. Other than that, go buy one, it’s a rare bargain!
