Not the i**** in the family of geniuses...

We have two BMWs in the family: One is described by motoring hacks as a five star car, the best in class, all the car you could ever need, etc. etc. The other? Top Gear called it "the i**** in a family of geniuses".

My experience of one is that it is constantly at the garage for servicing and repairs, that it has wildly variable fuel economy and suspect stability during very high speed braking. Through the corners and country roads it feels like a massive pudding of a car and frankly, were it not complete with a company expensed fuel card, I would drive anything else at the weekend. Actually, sometimes I do.

And then there is the i****:

The X3 is the best car we have ever had (and we've had 43 in 20 years). It does nothing badly and everything else either very well or brilliantly. It is the perfect family car for a lead footed, country dwelling Italian family girl, and if I could only get my hands on it more often it would be perfect for me too. Highly recommended.
