Audi A6 (2004 - 2011)
3.0 TDI quattro S line tiptronic 4dr saloon
Comfortable, safe, reliable, but with impressive performance
I absolutely love this car, and there are so many positives.
On the road it really stands out in S-Line trim and 19inch wheels, but without looking too 'flash'.
Driving - a real pleasure. With quattro the car feels brilliantly surefooted. The 3litre TDI engine is refined and has so much torque that overtaking and emerging from junctions feels very safe.
A couple of downsides - I'd prefer the steering to be 'heavier' at motorway speed, and road noise was a problem until I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 3.
Interior feels very well put together and rear seat passengers are happy unless there are three adults in the back.
Reliability - only problem was with a stuck fuel gauge.
Costs - fuel consumption is good considering the size of the engine. 50 mile journeys on motorway and A roads - typically 40mpg. In town typically 30mpg.
