Paris Motor Show 2014: Updated Peugeot 508 appears
Peugeot has revealed the updated 508 to the public for the first time at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The restyled model, available as a saloon or estate, gets updated engines and more technology. It’s due on sale shortly after the Paris Motor Show and will cost from £22,054.
Exterior styling has been overhauled with a sleeker, less fussy look and some high-tech features like full-LED lighting. The interior has been improved too, with a less cluttered centre stack and a seven-inch touchscreen system, plus a closed storage bin and more technology, including blind spot assistance and a reversing camera.
The diesel engine range includes four existing powerplants – a 1.6-litre with 115PS, offered with an automated manual, plus a 2.0-litre with either 140PS or 163PS and a 2.2-litre with 200PS.
More important is a new Euro 6 compliant 2.0-litre HDI diesel with 150PS or 180PS. The 150PS version is offered with a six-speed manual transmission and has impressively low emissions of 109g/km.
The more powerful 180PS version comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and is only available in the RXH bodystyle – a pseudo off-road variant of the estate. It produces 119g/km of CO2. The RXH is also offered with the Hybrid4 four-wheel drive diesel hybrid system, with emissions of 104g/km.
Standard equipment on the entry level Active model includes a touch screen system with navigation, dual-zone air conditioning, 18-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, folding door mirrors and LED running lights.
Upper trim grades gain extras like an electronic parking brake and keyless entry, larger alloys, a head up display and leather upholstery. The range-topping RXH estate gets full-LED lighting and electronically adjustable seats, trimmed in half-leather.
