Geneva Motor Show 2016: Super luxurious Volvo XC90 Excellence shown

Published 29 February 2016

This may look like just another black Volvo XC90, but if you zoom in above the sill you’ll see it says ‘Excellence’, meaning this is a four-seat super luxury version. It’s available to order now, sort of.

Unquestionably the most luxurious car Volvo has ever made, this XC90 comes with four individually adjustable massage chairs and generous helpings of leather. Standard kit includes a set of Orrefors crystal glasses, a fridge and tables on which to balance said glasses.

The sole powertrain is the T8 one, meaning a 407PS plug-in petrol-electric hybrid capable of a 5.6-second 0-62mph sprint and yet just 49g/km CO2. It of course also comes with everything you’d get in a top-of-the-line XC90 T8 Inscription, a car that retails at £64,205.

Volvo’s press release says the XC90 Excellence is available to order now, but only online and in selected markets – one of which is not the UK, at least for now, which is why we don’t know exactly how much it costs.

That said, with this XC90 clearly aiming at the Range Rover market, expect your PayPal account to be drained to the tune of around £80,000 after clicking ‘add to basket’.
