Geneva Motor Show 2015: Skoda to unveil 155mph Octavia vRS
The fastest ever production Skoda Octavia will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Powered by a 230PS 2.0-litre petrol engine, the Octavia vRS 230 will be the most powerful model to make it to the showroom, with a top speed of 155mph. Expect prices to start at £25,000 when it reaches the UK in the summer.
As well as packing extra horsepower, the Octavia vRS 230 will get an electronic front differential, which will spread power across the front wheels to improve traction and cornering stability. The system will be almost identical to the one found in the Volkswagen Golf GTi, with the performance pack fitted.
According to Skoda’s figures, the vRS 230 will be capable of 155mph, but knock just a tenth off the 0-62mph time (down from 6.8 to 6.7 seconds), although the combination of larger brakes and a front diff will undoubtedly allow the Octavia to be pushed harder and faster than any model before it. There's few details on transmissions, but expect a six-speed manual to be fitted as standard while the DSG will available as a paid for option.
Available in hatchback or estate, the 230 will also get a sharpened exterior, with a coloured rear spoiler, new paint options and extra trim. The cabin will also be enhanced, with the usual vRS sports seats and a scattering of 230 logos.

What's the point of making cars that can go at 155mph,when the new speeding fines are just cash converters. Let me have a car that's safe, good mpg,, reliable, low taxes.Add a comment
