Health & Safety Help From Porsche

Thu, 05 Feb 2009
As the snow thaws, now is the perfect time for drivers to perhaps reflect on bruised egos – and at worst crashed cars – caused by losing control of their car in the treacherous road conditions of the past week.

Following the opening of the state-of-the-art Porsche Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone, Northamptonshire, there has never been a more appealing way for drivers to improve their skills; and new legislation means that companies are now responsible for ensuring the driving techniques of their employees are of a high standard.

The Porsche Advanced Driving Course (prices start from £275) provides participants with a unique opportunity to gain a sound knowledge of the principles of car control around the specially designed test tracks, plus tips on how to avoid potential road hazards in advance and thus deal with them more efficiently – or better still, avoid them completely. And the fact that this experience is achieved behind the wheel of a Porsche makes learning fun!

Built adjacent to the famous grand prix track, the Porsche Driving Experience Centre offers a variety of circuit configurations and surfaces providing instruction in wet and dry conditions, as well as simulating driving on ice and snow.

The Winter Driving Course exploits this ability to mimic wintry conditions at any time of the year, to create an environment where oversteer slides can be provoked, corrected, held or eliminated.

Under the expert guidance of a Porsche Driving Consultant, you can experience and adapt to difficult driving conditions, learning the techniques required to drive safely, efficiently and confidently on wet and icy road surfaces. The Winter Driving Course starts from £275.

“The main objectives of these courses are to optimise driving safety without restricting driving enjoyment, and to ensure maximum levels of progress are made with minimum effect on other road users and the environment,” explained James Taylor, Manager, Porsche Driving Experience. “The Porsche Driving Experience Centre enables us to operate on a higher level and produce an unrivalled selection of courses that fulfil training needs for any requirement. Courses can be tailored to suit all requirements, but are always aimed to be both fun and educational, mixing business with pleasure.”

Providing further business opportunities, the Porsche Driving Experience Centre houses reception and display areas, a restaurant, cinema, an innovative Human Performance facility plus first class office facilities. “It is possible for companies to hold business meetings in the morning coupled with a Porsche Advanced Driving Course in the afternoon,” added Taylor.
