Jaguar I-Pace gets range-boosting software upgrade
Jaguar has developed a range-boosting update for the I-Pace. The software upgrade is completely free and will add up to 12 miles to the electric SUV's real world range.
The new software update is the result of Jaguar's participation in the I-Pace eTrophy series, which supports the all-electric Formula E racing weekends.
The race-derived enhancements are delivered through optimisation of battery management, thermal systems and all-wheel drive torque improvements. However, while the I-Pace will gain an extra 12 miles of real-world range, Jaguar says it will not seek to change the 292 mile official certified range of the I-Pace.
Jaguar says it has improved the SUV's regenerative braking and the maximum electric range calculation - the latter using a new algorithm to deliver a more accurate estimate by adjusting its calculation to factor in different driving styles.
The I-Pace continues to be powered by a 90kWh lithium-ion battery and its charging cycles remains unchanged, with a full charge from a 7kW AC wallbox taking 10 hours. Drivers can also boost the battery from zero to 80 per cent in 40 minutes when using a 100kW DC fast charger.
The Jaguar I-Pace SUV is Jaguar’s first all-electric production model and is on sale now, priced from £60,995.
