Volkswagen Passat - Rusting - Rusty VW

I have an 08 Passat Sport it is rusting on all doors, bonnet, tailgate and around A Post.

VW are offering repair which my Engineer and I feel is not a perminent fix and the corrosion will re appear.

VW have been asked to strip down doors and shell of the car of trims to see the extent of corrosion along seems. They have declined due to the cost. They have offered to buy car from me for a rediculously low price which I have rejected.

I then looked at four other cars and of these three had similar corrosion which is pointing to poor quality steel or a defect in manufacture. The worst car was mine and an 09 estate the 57 had front door issues.

VW have now stopped communicating so I have built a website with all photos and legal bits to help other Passat owners for free all I ask is to provided a collective case it would be great if you could tell me reg, servicing dealer and location of rust I can deal with VW for you. www.rustingvolkswagen.co.uk

Just for everyones info in my life I have had at least six cars bought back the last a New Renault Clio.

If you contact VW please ask deler to quote to warranty department KRT001.

Perhaps yours is one of the 30,000 VWs that suffered hail damage at Emden IN 2008!

No the rust is in areas protected from the atmosphere and occupants, it is on the inside of the doors and have seen the same on three other car 57, 08 & 09 reg.

Volkswagen Passat - Rusting - Rusty VW

Just to let the doubtors on this site know that i took VW and dealers to court.

I have recieved compensation from VW after my six year battle.

The car was repaired by VW Authorised bodyshop at VW's cost after another court hearing but unfortunately the new doors ate rusting again.

I am now going to take Fastlane Paint & body to court as car has water ingress, poor panel fitment and paint work of diffrent shades of silver.

It is easy to use small claims and VW if you loose cant claim legal costs back unless they made a fair offer.

Do you have the case reference number, and details of which court the case was held at ?

I and several others would be extremely interested as to the legal basis on which you took Volkswagen Group United Kingdom Limited to court, assuming you didn't buy the car directly from them.

I would have thought that if VW offered a warranty against rust then this could be enforced through the courts against VW directly rather than having to sue the supplying dealer.

Volkswagen Passat - Rusting - skidpan

I had a Golf, found some rust around the rubber bungs that filled the holewhere the wiper arm bolted on a LHD car.

Did I have to take anyone to court, of course not. I took it to the local VW dealer (not the one I bought it from) who repaired it with no arguement and no hassle.

That was in 1993, the car was 4 years old and I bought it new in 1989. The car is still alive, its just over 27 years old.

Had 3 more VAG cars since then, all been bodily perfect.

If you want people to believe you I suggest you post ACTUAL details of the case. Just saying you have won proves nothing.
