What's a good used buy for £20,000?
I am looking at buying a second hand car and have a budget of £20,000. I've considered Mercedes A Class, Audi A1 or A3 and something from the VW Golf range. I seek a petrol model and drive about 8000 miles per year. Most journeys are less than 20 miles, with a few of 300miles. Would any of these be a good buy?

None of them would be a bad choice. Our money would go on a late seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf - it was replaced in 2020 and your budget will get a high-spec version of the old car with the punchy 1.5 TSI petrol engine.
